Prevention of Vice

In his autobiography Odd Man Out, Douglas Goldring includes some examples of his verse. I think this poem deserves a wider circulation:

Frigidity and Impotence
Both escaped the yoke of sense;

Formed societies to save
Warmer souls that loved – and gave;

They thanked Christ that they were chosen
To live chaste and pure, if frozen.

Christ, observing them, replied:
“Was it for the dead I died?”
