Rupert Brooke appeal

The Rupert Brooke Society has launcehed an appeal to buy a rather splendid painting by Phyllis Gardner. ‘Fairy Gold’ is a fantasy self-portrait that apparently encodes her feelings for Brooke. A £10 donation gets you an A5 copy of the picture, and proceeds will buy the original for King’s College, Cambridge. The Brooke Society website explains all about it, and includes some of their correspondence, including this steamy missive from Rupert:
