For your diary

Updated with changed dates.

Have you bought your 2014 diary yet? If not, you should probably do so, as the year promises to be crammed with commemorative occasions.

The most promising I’ve come across so far is a conference on First World War poetry at Wadham College, Oxford, September 5th to 7th. It’s organised by the English Association, with the participation of the various societies devoted to particular poets. Will the admirers of Brooke have a punch-up with the Owenites? If they do, will members of the Siegfried Sassoon Fellowship protest against the sheer bloody waste of it all? Not to be missed.

… while the David Jones team will sit in a corner making a pile of all the references they can find…

Hm, if I only do one Great War related thing in 2014, what should it be? (husband has developed the urge to go and see his great-uncle’s grave).
