Costs of War

Here’s a snippet from my current reading, The Long Shadow by David Reynolds:
The total cost of the war cemeteries in Belgium and northen France (almost a thousand of them) was £8.15 million.
This was roughly double the cost of a single day’s shelling in the latter stages of the War.
